Kuala Lumpur. What an amazing city, a city that you can really call a cooking pot of cultures and this is reflected throughout the city be it in architecture, food or nightlife.
When I was in Kuala Lumpur I stayed in Bukit Bintang which is the main shopping and entertainment area. To get here from the airport couldnt be simpler. From the airport simply hop on the non stop Express train that runs between the airport and KL central station. From the station you just need to cross the road to the Monorail which will whisk you to Bukit Bintang in a matter of minutes. The Monorail is a great way to see some of the sights of the city also, albeit quickly!
Language is no problem a s everyone speaks English and all the signs in the city are in English so its very easy to get around. As in any city, I always avoid using taxis if I can, while the fare may seem cheap in KL the drivers will still try to rip you off. If you need to take a taxi ask for a receipt! This way they should use the meter and not overcharge. Even the locals complain about the taxis!
Local food is cheap and tasty. You will find restaurants offering set menus for 7 Malaysian Ringitt
( MYR) which works out at about EUR 1.4 , GBP 1.00 or USD 2.2 and for this you get soup and chicken and rice.
There is so much to see and do in the city and when you are there you will be able to pick up leaflets on the attractions and book tours through your hotel. It really is a city worth visiting and shopaholics will be in true heaven!
